Shell Australia today announced it will build and operate its first industrial-scale solar electricity farm near Wandoan in central Queensland, Australia. The solar farm will generate 120 megawatts of solar electricity from about 400,000 photovolatic (PV) panels and is expected to be completed in early 2021. The project will create up to 200 new jobs during construction.

The Riverina Energy Storage System 1 reaches operational milestone. The Riverina Energy Storage System 1 is a 60MW/120MWh battery, located in the Riverina region, near Darlington Point south-west of Griffith, NSW.

Pre-construction of the 200MW/400MWh Rangebank BESS has commenced in Cranbourne, bringing essential firm capacity one step closer for Victorians. The project is being jointly developed by Shell Energy and Eku Energy, with minority equity partner, Perfection Private. Once fully operational, the battery will have enough storage capacity to power 80,000 homes for an hour during peak periods. Completion of the project is expected in late 2024.

Shell Energy is proud to partner with Macquarie Asset Management’s Green Investment Group on a 200MW/400MWh BESS to be located in Cranbourne, VIC. The Rangebank BESS will have the storage capacity to power 80,000 Victorian homes for an hour during peak periods. The project marks Shell’s first direct equity investment in a utility-scale BESS globally and will contribute to improved reliability for the state’s grid and consumers.
